As a school administrator (vice principal, then principal), every school I served in was a middle school. That age group became my specialty, I guess. So, I enjoyed many grade 8 graduation ceremonies. Each one had great value for each and every participant - graduate, teacher, parent, grandparent, friend. They will each give you their perspective on the event, and in the vast majority of cases, it is remembered with fondness. Sure, the kids forget the "instructions" about the best way to move ahead, but they always remember the event itself - the celebration - whatever that may look like - because for each of them, it was personal.
Finally, in a couple of my schools, we did "clap out" our graduates - a wonderful send off to the summer holidays and the life ahead in high school.
So, keep the graduation at middle school.Wayne Jones - Educational Consultanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00347382794546304808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142580636104627482.post-4300840302605346822015-06-23T20:51:37.599-04:002015-06-23T20:51:37.599-04:00Great article and i love the "clapping out&qu...Great article and i love the "clapping out" concept.
